Information and communication technology (ICT) supports our social activities in a wide range of areas such as healthcare, public transport, education, entertainment and space development. It is our mission to best serve our community in the Tokyo metropolitan area as we are located in Tokyo. Our graduate school promotes research and education related to ICT and is determined to make contributions to building secure and credible IT infrastructure.

Today there is increasing demand for cross-cutting research and education integrating both computer science and communications technology. Unlike other conventional graduate schools teaching in this field, our school takes totally comprehensive approach. We consider that the following two areas are indispensable to construct IT infrastructure. One is computer science technology that enables acquisition, manipulation and management of information. The other is communications technology that ensures the safety and convenience of individual's lifestyles. Implementation of multimedia technology is based upon these technologies. Our school aims to promote comprehensive research and education in these areas to address our society's needs for a variety of ICT systems.

Also, our graduate school is committed to serving as an academic institution founded by the Tokyo metropolitan government. One of our core roles is to contribute to Tokyo Metropolitan College of technology, Tokyo Metropolitan College of Industrial Technology and other research institutions by offering them trainings or providing them research opportunities leading to the award of Ph. D degrees. In addition, we maintain close relationships with Advanced Institute of Industrial Technology for collaborative education and also with Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Technology Research Institute to fulfill our role as a think-tank for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

In response to government, industry and academia's need for future leaders to promote the state-of the-art research and education on ICT, our school provides cutting-edge programs to students, enabling them to find solutions with applicable knowledge and innovative skills in the field of ICT. These programs are designed to prepare future information professionals to address challenges facing the fast changing world.
