In the present post-mass production era, companies are required to develop their products and services in respond to customers’ needs for a variety of product options. They need to make quick business decisions based on marketing researches and feedbacks from product development side. Besides, the increasing customization which leads to high-mix low-volume production and short lifecycle production are becoming challenges in production management and marketing.

Under these circumstances, there is increasing need for ergonomics to be incorporated into production systems. Also, considering the fact that our society faces a declining birth rate and an aging population, promoting universal design products and ensuring succession of skills are becoming important issues.

To address this trend, we are dedicated to promote state-of-the-art research and education in the area of management systems engineering. Our curriculum is designed to offer students a comprehensive approach to system design in addition to conventional management skills. To fully leverage the technical strength of our division, we will make a commitment in the field of system design and product development with the strong focus on the production side, not the management side.
